HOW TO
How to hyper-personalise your event without losing your mind (or your margins)
If you’re still segmenting your guests like members of a supermarket loyalty programme, we need to talk.

Today’s audiences expect relevance, recognition and just the right ratio of oat milk to espresso; so much so that we’re designing events as if we already know who’s actually going to turn up.
(Because, these days, we do. Modern tools can now pull off small miracles.)
Here’s how to personalise like a pro:
Profile, matchmaker-style.
Use tools that track preferences, behaviours and past interactions. Know who prefers cabaret seating and who despises mushrooms. It’s not creepy; it’s considerate.
Build flexible agendas.
Not everyone wants the same breakout session. Let attendees pick their path and use smart platforms to auto-suggest sessions based on their goals.
Craft content that listens.
Live polling, sentiment tracking and digital Q&As help you to adapt on the fly. If people are zoning out, reframe. If they’re lit up, dive deeper. You need not sacrifice relevance on the altar of ‘wow’.
Personalise plate & playlist.
Menus, drinks, name tags and welcome gifts are all fair game. Even table playlists provide exciting personalisation opportunities. Curate details that reflect who your guests are – or who they want to be for the night.
Automate with soul.
Use AI for logistics, but keep the moments human – like a perfectly timed message that says, “Hey, we saw you loved the last speaker. Here’s their deck.” Make guests feel seen and heard.

EYES ON
January’s event itch

January used to the season of budget meetings and chilling at home. But it’s kicking off increasingly early, with boarding passes, lanyards and padel. Destination events are back too – from sunrise yoga in the bush to rooftop brainstorms in Braam, event-goers seem to be opting for shared full-body experiences.
It’s not only where they’re going that we find interesting, but why. Community-led gatherings are cropping up in offbeat spaces, blending down time with deep dives. Could the best events of 2026 turn couch potatoes into Simba chippies?
BY THE WAY
New year, new riddle:
They don’t say a word out loud, but they can host three panels in one room at one time. What are they?

Silent conference hubs. These clever systems use wireless headsets and radio channels to beam specific content straight into attendees’ ears. Each guest selects the session they want to hear and pow! Three talks, one space. Because running out of rooms shouldn’t mean running out of ideas.
